Gauteng roads look disastrous after rainy weather

As a result of heavy rainfall these last couple of days, roads have been looking worse than ever, causing unnecessary accidents and damage to vehicles. Here are some shocking photo’s of the Pretoria area. 

According to The SA weather service about 121 mm of rain has fallen in Pretoria in the past 24 hours, leaving most parts of the metro, flooded.

The road in front of the Centurion Lake Hotel is closed due to flooding. Emergency procedures have been put in place at the hotel where the Hennops River has burst its banks.

The rainfall this week has also caused numerous sinkholes in Centurion. A large sinkhole was discovered under a building in Kruger Street in Lyttelton.

The road leading to Valhalla from the R55 and vice versa has collapsed infront of the dumping site. Avoid at all costs.

The Tshwane metro police have issued a list of areas and streets affected by flooding during the recent heavy rains. These streets have been closed.

– Main Street and Nellmapius Drive

– Hippo Avenue and End Street

– Nellmapius Drive and John Vorster Drive

– Fairway Avenue and Lyttelton Road

– Lenchen Avenue and West Avenue

– Rabie Road and End Street
