Hill’s pet nutrition, a well-known brand of animal food has withdrawn some of their canned food because of the dangerously high levels of vitamin D found in the food which could cause health problems.

Hill’s Pet Nutrition made the decision to recall the products following a complaint about a dog that had become sick.

While vitamin D is an essential nutrient for dogs, ingestion of elevated levels can lead to potential health issues depending on the level of vitamin D and the length of exposure, and dogs may exhibit symptoms such as vomiting, loss of appetite, increased thirst, increased urination, excessive drooling, and weight loss.

Pets that have eaten these products should be monitored for symptoms.
