Does her shocking crime fit the punishment?

Lisa M. Montgomery

Montgomery was convicted in 2007 for the murder of a pregnant woman and kidnapping her unborn baby, who miraculously survived the attack. She pretended to be pregnant to friends and family in 2004 and then contacted Bobbie Jo Stinnett, who was actually pregnant. She wanted to purchase a dog from Bobbie. Instead, she strangled her to death and cut the child from her stomach. Montgomery confessed to her crime.

Montgomery was executed for her crime. She was pronounced dead at 1:31 a.m. at a federal prison complex in Terre Haute, Indiana, on Wednesday, January 13th after a lethal injection.

Newly elected president Joe Biden plans to eliminate the death penalty at the federal level.
